CONTEXT
Goof ups are human, adding a little flavor to it can soften the blow. For a writer, the oops moment is a chance to be punny, light-hearted or a chance to add some flair. So, when it came to the error state of ShareChat I took the opportunity to make a memorable impression on the users when they didn’t land where they were supposed to be.
Inspiration – Engineer babu
If engineering were a religion, then it’d be the most worshiped one in India. We all have that cousin or a neighbor who’s an engineer. So, I was drawn to the idea of using an engineer reference in the copy, since they’re known to fix and operate things. And that’s how I stumbled upon the term engineer babu. But, upon knowing the story of Mayank from Tikamgarh, MP, who happened to be the first engineer from his village and earned the title of OG engineer babu, the reasons to use engineer in the copy was even more concrete. That’s how Engineer babu came about.
